Interstate 75 Right-of-Way Plans and Acquisition for the Brent Spence Bridge Replacement

  •    •

The Brent Spence Bridge carries Interstate 75 over the Ohio River from downtown Cincinnati, Ohio, to Covington, Kentucky. This bridge was severely over capacity and beyond its useful life. As part of the Brent Spence Bridge replacement, I-75 was reconstructed and widened from the Ohio River north through the Western Hills Viaduct. LJB completed field survey, boundary reconnaissance and resolution, right-of-way plans, utility mapping survey and acquisition services, which included resolution of the state line, 73 ownerships, and 144 parcels along 2.3 miles of interstate highway through dense urban development.

Completing right-of-way plans had an exceptional level of complexity. LJB worked with numerous federal, state and local historical societies, including the Federal National Archives, the Cincinnati Historical Society and the University of Cincinnati, to determine the original plats from some of the first settlers to Cincinnati and perform record research for registered land, railroad parcels, and original plats of survey for downtown Cincinnati.
