State Route 4 Bypass Widening

  •

The project widens the intersection of the Bypass and Port Union Road by adding additional thru lanes, dedicated right-turn lanes and double left-turn lanes; constructs an additional bridge over the CSX railroad; and modifies the intersection of the Bypass with State Route 4/Ross Road to utilize a new quadrant roadway intersection design that splits the traffic between multiple intersections, improving the flow of traffic.

The first in the state of Ohio, this quadrant roadway intersection reroutes all four left-turn movements at a four-legged intersection onto a road that connects the two intersecting roads.

Project features included structural design for a three-span rolled steel beam bridge, roadway design, traffic analysis, mast arm traffic signals, video detection, illuminated signage, noise analysis and right-of-way involvement.
