Greensboro-Randolph Megasite

Located in the heart of North Carolina, the 1,500-acre site was selected due to its availability to a manufacturing workforce and close proximity to existing railroad infrastructure, three airports and Interstates 40 and 85. The Greensboro-Randolph Megasite has the potential to bring thousands of jobs to the region. Randolph County Economic Development Corporation selected LJB to provide preliminary engineering services for the proposed largescale manufacturing site. Partnering with state, local and private identities, LJB’s work directly contributed to obtaining the megasite site certification.

LJB and its subconsultants provided a broad range of professional services, including program and project management, planning and environmental documentation, roadway improvements, traffic impact and capacity analysis, site development, geotechnical investigation, surveying and wetland delineation. Preliminary engineering plans were provided for upgrading U.S. 421 to interstate standards and converting current at-grade intersections into grade separated interchange overpasses. Four potential interchange options were developed for access into the site.
