For this project, LJB rerouted the 5-foot-wide sidewalk through the Oak Grove Cemetery in accordance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and related North Carolina General Statutes. LJB developed a preferred alternative for the sidewalk alignment that minimized ground disturbance required during construction in an effort to keep unmarked graves intact within the cemetery. LJB prepared all easement documentation, design engineering, environmental review, and public outreach materials and coordinated and managed the historic and archeological studies occurring in the Oak Grove Cemetery property during the cultural resource evaluations.
