Ohio’s first project to be certified by Greenroads® has now received some additional recognition. Last week, LJB Inc. received an honor/outstanding achievement award for the State Route 4 and South Gilmore Road/Holden Boulevard Greenroads® Sustainable Intersection Improvements project from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Ohio (ACEC Ohio).
The project, which was designed by LJB Inc. and built by the John R. Jurgensen Co., improve both the flow of traffic and safety hazards at the intersection of State Route 4 and Gilmore and Holden—one of the busiest and most accident-prone locations in the City of Fairfield. In addition to earning Greenroads certification, construction was completed a month early and nearly $213,000 under the bid price.
ACEC Ohio recognized 28 projects as part of its annual Engineering Excellence Awards Competition. The award program brings well-deserved public recognition to Ohio’s engineering industry by spotlighting engineering projects that demonstrate a high degree of uniqueness, ingenuity and value.
“The talent and achievements the engineering community shares at this award ceremony is truly inspiring,” stated Beth Easterday, President of ACEC Ohio. “They are building connections and enhacing communities every day.”
This project optimizes LJB’s mission to improve quality of life. And, by implementing sustainable infrastructure design, this project has the potential to improve quality of life for generations to come.
