For this project to design improvements to Winston Lake, LJB was called upon to develop a method to remove silt and improve water quality. Instead of hauling 18,000 cubic yards of silt to a certified landfill, our team worked to coordinate and manage the removal and transport of the material to be used on a nearby city-owned property. When the lake was dredged, the materials were pumped a short distance to the site of a new golf driving range and then the material was treated with sedimentation bags to remove water. This innovative solution saved the city $200,000 in transportation and removal costs and enhanced another city project at the same time.
